Laura Churchill
PHYSIOTHERAPIST

Laura is a physiotherapist with clinical and research expertise in the rehabilitation of athletes and active adults. She completed her Master of Physical Therapy and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University, followed by a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Colorado. She conducts research at the University of British Columbia and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Physical Therapy.
She is specialized in osteoarthritis, post-arthroplasty rehabilitation, and complex knee injuries. She also has experience treating a wide variety of sport related injuries and is passionate about helping runners and snow sport athletes navigate challenging injuries. Her research interests include exercise, education, technology, and return to sport among individuals with hip or knee osteoarthritis and those undergoing total joint replacement. She is an avid athlete and has competed in several sports including soccer, swimming, and volleyball. You can find her running, hiking, gravel biking, golfing, snowboarding, playing soccer or on the pickle ball courts. She is new to Nanaimo and is keen to explore activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding.
Laura combines her expertise, research and experience as an athlete to support patients along their own journey. Her treatment philosophy is based on collaborating with patients to play an active role in their recovery through education and evidence-based treatment plans.
