Dr. Sarah Shepherd

Dr. Sarah Shepherd graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 2019 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Her interest in chiropractic started while working at a local gym and developing a fascination for biomechanics and the body’s innate ability to adapt and heal. She began shadowing chiropractors and saw first hand how their care restored function and improved the overall health of their patients. She also observed how regular chiropractic treatments can help individuals without injuries maintain their mobility and optimal health.
Born and raised in Nanaimo, Dr. Shepherd grew up dancing competitively in jazz, ballet and hip hop. In her adult years she has developed a love for long distance running completing the Scotia Bank marathon in Toronto, the Lululemon Seawheeze half marathon, the Kusam Klimb in Sayward, and the Fletchers Challenge in Nanaimo. Dr. Shepherd also enjoys weight training, golfing and almost any outdoor activity in her spare time.
Dr. Shepherd values the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle via proper nutrition, sleep, and physical activity. Herself and her husband maintain an active lifestyle being involved in local running groups, the Senior AA Steelman Hockey Club, members of the Cottonwood Golf Club and giving back to the Nanaimo community where they both were raised.
Dr. Shepherd thoroughly assesses her patients before communicating a diagnosis and personalized treatment plan. She focuses on uncovering and understanding the root cause of her patients’ injuries and pain. Dr. Shepherd uses a diverse range of treatment techniques which includes chiropractic adjustments, mobilizations, cupping, soft tissue therapy, orthotics, shockwave, laser, rehabilitative exercise and patient education.
Dr. Shepherd has a special interest in female health, pregnancy and postpartum rehabilitation. As a mother, she understands how pregnancy can alter a women’s posture and pelvic mechanics, cause nerve irritation and contribute to pregnancy related discomfort and low back pain. Dr. Shepherd provides specialized chiropractic care for women that can help improve their overall comfort and biomechanics during and following pregnancy. She is also experienced is pediatric chiropractic care and offers treatments for newborns, infants, toddlers and young children.
Dr. Shepherd has a passion for contributing to the well-being of others through her knowledge of chiropractic care and addressing all pillars of health including nutrition, sleep hygiene, stress management and of course physical activity.
